Varia VS6 review (2026)
Reviewers praise a swappable-burr, variable-RPM single-doser with clear, sweet espresso and filter cups. Catches: about 2.3 g of retention without the blower, and a loose dial that shifts.
Varia VS6 is an electric grinder that suits Turkish, Espresso, Moka pot, AeroPress, Pour-over, French press and Cold brew. From €803.90 delivered to Germany, prices vary by country.
What are the pros and cons of the Varia VS6?
Pros
- Tests show a very narrow main particle peak of 183 micronsMicrons (µm)A micron is a thousandth of a millimetre, the unit reviewers use for grind size and for the size of one click.More in the glossary, and a reviewer finds the espresso clear, sweet and structured.
- Tests show the grind setting can be reset after a filter grind, with median particle size and main peak nearly identical to the original espresso values.
- Reviewers say the 500 to 1600 RPMRPMRPM means revolutions per minute, how fast the burrs turn.More in the glossary range changes the cup, with lower speeds giving clearer, sweeter results and higher speeds more body.

- Reviewers describe a solid aluminium build that feels premium, with no plastic parts touching the coffee.
Cons
- Tests show 2.3 g total retentionRetentionRetention is the ground coffee that stays inside the grinder instead of landing in your cup.Lower is betterMore in the glossary, 2.0 g permanent and 0.35 g temporary without the blower, which is high for a single-doser.
- A reviewer rates the adjustment feel poor, because the loose dial shifts when the bellows are used or the grinder is tapped, and owners report the same.
- Owners report that some units need extra spacers to grind fine enough for espresso, and that settings can move after the burrs are taken out and refitted.
- Tests show 11.5 g in 10 seconds, so an 18 g dose takes about 20 seconds, among the slowest in a single-doseSingle dosingSingle dosing means weighing the beans for one brew and grinding only those, instead of filling a hopper.More in the glossary comparison.

Which brew methods does the Varia VS6 cover?
The maker's own reference lists Turkish through cold brew on the flat burrs, and reviewers tested espresso, pour-over and French press. A retailer calls the 35 g catch cup small for batch brews, so a 1 litre filter machine batch takes several loads and Filter machine is limited.

€803.90 at roastmarket →What do owners say about the Varia VS6?
- Dial moves with the bellows. Early owners say pressing the bellows turns the loose adjustment ring, so the setting needs a check. One owner in February 2026 sees no movement on a newer unit and thinks firmer springs were fitted.
- Fine end varies by unit. Owners report that some units cannot grind fine enough for espresso with the stock spacer, so extra spacers are added. One says a retailer now ships three extra spacers, and another saw a setting of 1.2 become 3.6 after a clean.
- Quiet motor. Owners call the motor very quiet. One thought at first it was broken, and another finds it much quieter than the grinder in his previous machine.
- Stalls and error codes. Some owners report stalls at the lowest speeds or an E006 error, and some early units that switched themselves on. Advice in the thread is to feed beans slowly and clear the chamber.
- Retention in daily use. One early owner puts retention at 0.5 to 0.7 g shot to shot without the bellows. A later owner says retention is at most 0.1 g with a water spray.

Questions
What is the Varia VS6 good for?
It works well for Turkish, Espresso, Moka pot, AeroPress, Pour-over, French press and Cold brew. It is limited for Filter machine. The maker's own reference lists Turkish through cold brew on the flat burrs, and reviewers tested espresso, pour-over and French press. A retailer calls the 35 g catch cup small for batch brews, so a 1 litre filter machine batch takes several loads and Filter machine is limited.
How much does the Varia VS6 cost delivered?
Cheapest delivered price: €899.99 to Lithuania, €818.90 to Latvia, €818.90 to Estonia, €808.90 to Poland, €818.90 to Finland, €803.90 to Germany, €808.90 to the Netherlands.

It is an electric grinder with 58 mm flat, stainless steel (Supernova); 63 mm conical sets sold separately burrs and stepless adjustment. Noise level 3 of 5 (moderate): 75.7 dB, Kaffeemacher.
Is the Varia VS6 a single-dose grinder?
Yes, you weigh the beans in each time.
Is the Varia VS6 good for espresso?
Yes. We rate the Varia VS6 as a good fit for espresso. Best for: Espresso and filter drinkers who want one grinder for both. variabrewing.com lists dial 2 to 5 (58 mm flat burrs) for espresso.

No. The maker fits 58 mm flat Supernova burrs and sells 63 mm conical sets separately. A retailer says swapping needs no recalibration, while owners report the zero point can move after a clean.
How much coffee does it retain?
