Every grinder's burr, to scale

We publish a burr diameter for 46 of our 58 grinders, from 38 mm to 83 mm. Every burr below is drawn on one scale and grouped by shape, smallest first.

Burr size is the width of the burrs, in millimetres. A bigger burr has more cutting surface, so it generally grinds faster. It does not make better coffee by itself: the shape of the burr and how well it is made matter as much.

Shape is the other half. Our article on conical vs flat burrs sets the two shapes side by side on retention, noise, price and brew fit, from the same grinder data, and says what those numbers cannot prove.

A size here is the diameter a maker or one of our sources publishes, never one we worked out. When none is published, the shape is drawn dashed and says so. The teeth are a sketch of the shape; only the outer width is to scale.

One scale for every drawing: the faint dotted ring is the largest burr we list (83 mm). Smallest first in each group, burrs with no published size last.
